Woah - Time flies

In a fit of nostalgia, I checked this time capsule of atrocious spelling, grammar, and fossilized stress. The little “stats” button informs me people are still reading my journey through law school a decade later. Setting aside the internal cringe at my public inability to string a coherent sentence together maybe the occasional reader might like to know how it all worked out. It is wild to think the duration of my legal education has now been doubled by the time spent in practice. However, that checks out because apparently law school exams are now done on the computer with access to the internet (WTF) so the march towards being a dinosaur that gets irked by changes to legislation websites is well underway. After law school I was fortunate enough to find work in Criminal Law. I now have my own little practice with a small team I am wildly proud of. Most days I still get excited to go to work and play in the sandpit with my colleagues on both sides of the bar table. Life is good, practice is good. I am blessed to have had the opportunity for higher education that changed my life in so many ways. Law School was a highlight of my youth where I made friends I am still in touch with, some of which I even get to work with. For the students who are reading, persevere! My grades were lackluster, it was not the end of the world. One subject at a time, one semester after the other and taking each year as it comes, see it through. If there was one little soapbox to get up on, mine would be to take every opportunity to moot. The subjects for areas I do not practice in (i.e International law & well… I can’t even remember the subjects so, that speaks volumes) have faded the skills and lessons from mooting serve me everyday in court. My deepest hope for you is wherever this journey takes you, you also find happiness and success. - Obiter Ovum
